Originally designed as a family home, Perlo do Mar still feels like a private residence, giving our guests the ultimate in laidback luxury, in a homely environment.
Built using local craftsmen, thatch and wood, the interiors embody a modern Breezy Beach house giving one the sense of openness to the ocean below.
Timeless and quietly glamorous the interiors are pared down so that nothing distracts from the show stopping view across the pool deck to the magnificent ocean a few steps below.
Our friendly manager Alberto will meet you at the Vilankulo international airport where you will be transferred to Perlo Do Mar, a short 20 minutes? drive by car.
On arrival, the house staff and Chef Saramento will meet and greet you, leading you through our tropical garden of ferns, bougainvillea and lush green lawns. A cool welcome drink can be taken at the garden facing veranda lounge, which is also a favorite meeting place in the evenings, especially when Chef Saramento has the pizza oven blazing for an evening around the pizza bar. There is a casual lounge in this area as an option from the front sea facing lounge if the sea breeze is too strong in the evenings.
The open plan living and dining area with large fold away doors on all sides, enables views of the majestic coastline from most of the living spaces.
Other than the pizza bar lounge we have a central TV lounge, and an open air bar lounge just off the kitchen. The relaxing atmosphere of the spacious bar lounge beckons to light the fire for a traditional braai or barbeque and to indulge in outdoor living from where you can take in breath-taking vistas and enjoy memorable sunrises if you are an early riser.
The hub of Perlo do Mar is the pool and expansive deck area with old weathered thorn trees and palms, overhanging the deck, offering some much needed shade in the heat of summer. At night Chef Saramento will set your table if you wish, under the fairy lit tree where he will prepare and serve a delectable array of locally available dishes if you are on a full board basis.
Our 18 seater dining room is of course an option for meals should the weather not play along with your plans.
A few steps down our decked walkway to the beach, one walks through the beach lounge and Lapa area which are one of a kind. You could not get closer to the water?s edge if you tried. It is easy to linger here all day, cuddled up in a hammock, watching the changing light on the water until the sun settles behind the lodge and the colors of the ocean turn red.

Bedroom 1: Situated on the ground floor of the main house, this luxurious and spacious suite is perfect for honeymooners. It comprises of an open-plan thatch structure with a king-sized extra length bed, en-suite bathroom with a separate garden view shower. Fully air-conditioned with magnificent sea and pool views.
Bedroom 2: Bedroom 2 is situated on the ground floor of the main house; this vibrant suite epitomizes the bright colorful array of the islands beauty. The suite comprises of an extra length queen-sized bed with an en-suite bathroom featuring a bath and shower. This room faces the tropical gardens of Perlo do Mar. Fully air-conditioned.
Bedroom 3: Bedroom 3 is situated on the ground floor of the main house having its own private entrance from the outside veranda; this elegant suite characterizes simplicity and relaxation with garden views. The suite comprises of a king-sized extra length bed with an en-suite bathroom (shower only) and is air- conditioned.
Bedroom 4: Bedroom 4 is situated upstairs in the main house. This spacious and exquisitely decorated room is perfect for the whole family and can be configured in a variety of ways to suit our guests needs. The bedroom comprises of a king-sized bed as well as a single bed. This spacious room has a lounge area where the sofa can be turned into a sleeper couch for 2 extra children. This family room is air-conditioned and features an en-suite bathroom (shower only).
Bedroom 5: Bedroom 5 is situated upstairs within the main house; this luxurious room is perfect for couples as it comprises of a king-sized extra length bed featuring an en-suite bathroom (shower only). This room has air-conditioning and a ceiling fan for hot summer evenings.
Bedroom 6: Bedroom 6 is situated in the annex which is a short walk through the tropical gardens behind the main house, this quaint suite epitomizes the mesmerizing characteristics of the ocean. It comprises of a queen-sized bed with an en-suite bathroom (shower only) with lovely views through the low hanging thatch onto the garden. This room has air-conditioning.
Bedroom 7: Bedroom 7 is situated in the annex which is a short walk through the tropical gardens behind the main house, this suite represents the vibrant colors and culture of the Mozambique heritage with local Capulana fabrics used as artwork on the walls. The bedroom comprises of 2 single beds and a shared bathroom a few steps from the room which is perfect for single guests or children. There is a desk area and the room is air conditioned.
Bedroom 8: Bedroom 8 is situated in the annex which is a short walk through the tropical gardens behind the main house, this suite is beautifully decorated and is perfect for children or couples.
