Zalala Beach Lodge Quelimane

Destination: Quelimane

If you are looking for tranquility, natural beauty and the chance to experience the richness of Mozambican food and culture, then Zalala Beach is the place for you!

Located on a beautiful beach spreading as far as the eyes can see, Zalala Beach Lodge offers visitors the chance to discover the physical and cultural beauty of this largely undiscovered region of Mozambique.

The Lodge, which is opening in November/December 2010, will offer a range of facilities including beach sports, such as volley, kite surfing and riding and outings to nearby places of interest, such as the Gile safari reserve and the famous Gurue tea plantations. It is also an ideal location for group retreats, conferences, away days, special occasions, such as weddings, graduations and so on.

Property Amenities

Zalala Beach Lodge is situated on the outskirts of Supinho, a small fishing village, approximately 40 kms North of Quelimane, the provincial capital on the Central Northern coast of Mozambique.

Lodge facilities will include 10 bungalows located within a few hundred metres from the beautiful tree-lined beach that stretches for miles and merges with the Namacurra river providing an unusual mix of fresh and sea water. There are both one and two-bedroom bungalows to suit the needs of couples, friends and/or families.

The Lodge can also cater for private functions (weddings, parties) and conferences with capacity for up to 100 people.

The restaurant on the beach front will serve fresh fish and sea food, as well as traditional dishes, such as Galinha Zambeziana (barbecued chicken with a special Zambezian touch!),

A swimming pool, with a bar area, lounge chairs and beautiful views provides an alternative setting for relaxing and mixing with other guests.

Area Attractions

The wide sandy beach is ideal for swimming, playing in the surf, jogging, volleyball, football or simply lazing in the sun with a good book!

The Lodge also offers unique kayaking opportunities, both around the coastal inlets and nearby islands or, for the more intrepid, to the more distant shores further up the coast, whilst enjoying the stunning seascape and coastline adorned by palms and coconut trees.

Within just a few hundred kilometres from the Lodge, avid bird lovers can feast their eyes on the rich array of bird species living around the magical lake, locally known as the River of the Gods (mwinge wa mulugu). Other beach activities, including donkey rides and windsurfing will also be available in the near future.
