Only a short leisurely stroll into this historical portside town, the 2nd oldest inhabited town in Mozambique. Casa do Capitao, directly translates into ˜House of the Captain. It was one of the oldest houses in Inhambane where the port captain vigilantly observed ships making their way through this channeled bay.
Due to the decrease of harbourtraffic , there became a lesser need for the duties of the port captain and consequently, over time, this led to the deterioration of this historical landmark. It was this reason that our architect was inspired to carefully incorporate the original architecture of the captain`s house into the design of where our hotel`s restaurant stands today.
A better position is impossible to find. Situated on the edge of Mozambique's provinical capital Inhambane, Casa do Capitao is within easy reach of the city's many historical delights, its also right on the water, with 270° views of Inhambane bay. A 5 hour drive from Maputo, while the nearby airport makes air travel from Maputo or Johannesburg an easy option.
