Only a 40 minute drive from the Kosi Bay border, along sandy roads, you will find Aloha Estate. Situated on the beach in Ponta Mamoli, Mozambique. House number 18 is a beachfront house, privately situated and has seaviews from every room in the house.
The house is on one level and has a 'lodge type' layout, in the sense that the entire house consists of four separate buildings, all seafacing and all open up onto the wooden deck around the swimming pool and gazebo area. The building closest to the beach is the kitchen and living area, the other 3 buildings consist of 5 en suite bedrooms.
The bed configuration in the bedrooms are as per below:
Bedroom 1 has 1 queen size bed
Bedroom 2 has 1 queen size bed
Bedroom 3 has 1 queen size bed with a bunk bed
Bedroom 4 has 1 queen size bed with 2 day beds that have pull out single beds
Bedroom 5 has 1 queen size bed with 2 day beds that have pull out single beds
The house comfortably sleeps 20 people. All 5 bedrooms have en suite bathrooms.
Each bedroom is comfortably furnished with ceiling fans, bedside tables with bedside lamps and en suite bathrooms. Each bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. All linen, bath and beach towels are provided.
Please take note that the swimming pool does not have a child safety net.
The living area consists of an open plan kitchen and lounge. The lounge has a TV with full DSTV and lounge seating for around 9 people.
The kitchen is well equipped with a 4 plate gas hob, oven, microwave, ice machine, crockery and cutlery for 20 people, 2 fridges, 1 x 500 litre chest freezer, washing machine and all the equipment that you would require in a kitchen for self catering. There is a large dining room table in the living area.
All cleaning materials are provided as well as black bags.
The washing machine is to be operated by the staff only. If you would like laundry done then please bring Aerial washing liquid with, as this is not provided.
We have provided a water filter at the prep bowl in the kitchen. Only this water is drinkable. Teeth can be brushed with water in the bedrooms, but is not to be consumed. If you prefer bottled water then please bring that along.
Angelina and Emeraldina (Dina) are your housekeepers. They are here to look after you. Duties include cleaning, washing dishes, making beds and general cleaning. The staff dont do any cooking.
A 5 minute walk down the beach brings you to Fredericos snorkeling spot, famous for snorkeling. Ensure that you take snorkeling gear along!
Turtles lay their eggs between November and February which you can witness if you take a stroll on the beach in the evenings after dark. The hatchlings make their way to the ocean from January to March. Humpback and Southern Right Whale sightings are prolific from July to November. Pods of dolphins can be seen all year round. The Elephant Reserve is a 30 minute drive north where you can have a day picnic around one of the lakes and if you lucky you might sight the elephants.
If you wanting to get to the hustle and bustle then its a mere 15 minute drive to Ponta Malongane Village where there are various restaurants. They have local Portuguese flavour, are fairly rustic with views over Lake Sugi, watch the sunset over the lake.
The local currency is meticais but everyone welcomes Rands and there is no need for other currencies.
Ponta do Ouro is a 30 minute drive from the house. In Ponta do Ouro you will find a bottle store, BCI bank (local Mozambican Bank), surf shops, fishing tackle shop, pharmacy, internet cafe, petrol station, colourful food market where you can buy fruit and vegetables grown locally, alcohol, cigarettes, prawns, cashews, bread and the like. Quad bikes, surfboards and kite surfing equipment can be hired and lessons are available in Ponta do Ouro.
Ice can be bought from the the market as well as from local shebeens in Ponta Malongane Village.
There is a compulsory daily staff tip of R70 per housekeeper per day, this includes your day of arrival and departure. Please ensure you have enough Rands cash on your day of departure date. Their working hours are 7:00am to 4pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 12 on Saturdays. If you would like them to work Saturday afternoon you need to pay them R75 for the afternoon and if you would like them to work on Sundays and Public Holidays then you need to pay them R150 each for those days. Their working hours include 1 hour lunch.
If you dont have a 4x4 vehicle, you can leave your car on the South African side of the border, cost is R50 per car per day and your car will be safe. We will then put you in contact with the guy that does our border transfers, he charges R125 per person one way. Once you are at the house everything you require is there.
